~Laura Pifer, Brother Sews Ambassador
- What is your favorite sewing season and why?
I love doing sewing projects in the Fall, because it’s a versatile season to sew for. From Back to School to Halloween, there is always something inspiring. The prints are fun and bold, and you can sew warm to cold weather garments. It’s perfect!
- What was the last thing you created for a friend?
I created a really cool handmade bridal denim jacket for a friend of mine who was recently married. I embroidered the name and date on the back of the denim jacket, and she loved it. I had so much fun embroidering the jacket that I created a project for the Brother blog.
- What is your favorite Brother accessory?
I love my Brother SE1900. It is an all-around fabulous sewing machine, and the embroidery unit that offers a 5 x 7” hoop area is perfect for my embroidering needs.
- What advice would you give to someone who is just starting out in sewing?
Consistency is key! It takes time to learn the steps and process of sewing, so keep at it and practice, even if it’s just a little each day. It’s a great time to learn to sew because you can find all the available resources and tutorials to keep you motivated. Check out Stitching Sewcial, where you’ll find step-by-step sewing tutorials, patterns, and tips to use that range from beginner to expert.
- What is your favorite thing to do when you are not sewing?
If I’m not with my three boys, I am out running the town or trails. I’ve been a competitive runner since I was a child and am still at it to this day.
