Get the table ready for holiday entertaining with some stylish and colorful reversible placemats. See all the fun steps below!
- 2 coordinating fabrics. For a set of 8 placemats, you will need 2 yards of fabric in each pattern, for a total of 4 yards of fabric. (One yard of fabric in each fabric will make 4 placemats).
- Brother Sewing Machine
- Measuring tape
Step 1. Measure and mark approx. 15″ wide X 19″ long rectangle on each fabric and cut out the rectangles. You’ll need two rectangles of each fabric for each placemat.
Step 2. Place the outer (right) sides of the fabric together and pin in place, so the inner sides are facing out.
Step 3. Sew a straight line ½” away from the raw edges, removing pins as you sew.
Step 4. Leave a 4” opening at the bottom of the placemat, so that you can turn it right-side out.
Step 5. Trim the corners of your fabric, then turn the placemat right-side out.
Step 6. Iron the placemat flat, paying careful attention to press the seams and corners hard.
Step 7. Sew a topstitch over your 4” opening, then all the way around the remaining perimeter of the placemat.
Now you’ve created a placemat! Repeat these steps for each one and enjoy!
